Victor Crist is a devoted public servant and seasoned leader committed to excellence in service. As Hillsborough County’s Clerk of Circuit Court and Comptroller, Crist oversees 700 employees responsible for efficiency, accountability, and innovation in managing public funds, court records, and other vital services.

Crist has served in public office throughout his distinguished career, including 10 years as a State Senator and 8 years as a State Representative, where he was recognized as a legislative leader on justice issues. He also served the people of Hillsborough County as a Commissioner for 8 years, holding key roles, including Treasurer of the Board of Directors for the Tampa Aviation Authority.

Crist’s influential tenure in the Florida Legislature is marked by transformative achievements, particularly in justice reform and fiscal stewardship. He was instrumental in crafting Florida’s $4 billion statewide justice budget, supporting Judges, Clerks of Court, Public Defenders, Prosecutors, public safety, corrections systems, and the juvenile justice system. As Chair of the Joint Committee Task Force, Crist developed and implemented the plan to transition Florida’s courts to a unified, state-funded system under Article V, Revision 7 of Florida’s Constitution.

Before being elected Clerk and Comptroller in November 2024, Crist gained extensive experience in organizational development, strategic marketing, and advocacy. As a University of South Florida (USF) student earning a B.A. in Communication with honors, Crist founded Metropolitan Communications, Inc., an award-winning advertising, marketing, and public relations firm. His entrepreneurial endeavor evolved into a thriving consulting practice, serving clients across various non-profit and for-profit sectors.

Crist’s collaborative leadership and service have been widely recognized for over 3 decades by colleagues and professional organizations, including the Florida Conference of County Court Judges, the Florida Public Defenders Association, the Florida Prosecuting Attorneys Association, and the Florida Sheriff’s Association.

Raised in Treasure Island by a United States Army officer and a medical missionary, Crist’s upbringing instilled a commitment to faith, service, and problem-solving. This foundation inspired his career in public service and civic engagement. He has been married for 19 wonderful years to Angela Severino-Crist, with whom he shares a 12-year-old daughter, Sophia, and a beloved yellow Labrador rescue, Riley.
