CLERK OF COURT & COMPTROLLER

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FLORIDA

Online Marriage License

IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ! The following process is exclusively for the purpose of virtually obtaining a marriage license. Simply obtaining a marriage license in and of itself, without an officiant’s signature, does not result in a legal marriage in the State of Florida. The Hillsborough County Clerk’s Office does not perform virtual ceremonies. The marriage license should be presented to an officiant for a marriage ceremony. Be sure to read the Online Marriage License Requirements and Marriage License FAQs before beginning the virtual process of obtaining a marriage license

The Hillsborough County Clerk of Court is pleased to offer the option of applying for a marriage license online. The process is simple and involves the following steps.

  1. Fill out a Marriage Licenses Application online.
  2. Once you submit the application, it will be reviewed by the Clerk.
  3. The Clerk will send you an email confirming receipt of your application, and a link to schedule a video conference call using Zoom.
  4. Once the appointment is scheduled, the zoom link will be sent one business day prior to the scheduled appointment.
  5. On the scheduled date and time you will meet via Zoom with a Clerk who will validate your identifications, review your application with you, collect payment, and have you electronically sign your marriage license.
  6. You will receive a link to securely download the license, officiant instructions and payment receipt.
  7. After you get married, you can mail in the hard copy of your completed license, and you will receive a certified copy of your completed license via mail.
