Recently, new legislation, signed by Florida's Governor, allows new mothers to be excused from jury duty. House Bill 461 introduces an optional exemption for women who have recently given birth. Under this law, any woman who has given birth within six months before the reporting date on the jury summons can request to be excused.

Clerk Cindy Stuart was presented with a Special Recognition Award from the Hillsborough County 13th Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee for her Generous Jurors Program. This program allows jurors to donate their daily compensation to local non-profit organizations. This year, we are giving jurors the opportunity to donate their compensation to ‘Voices for Children of Tampa Bay’.
