New Scam Alert

Scammers are back with new tactics and they’re getting smarter and bolder. In this latest version, they claim you missed a court date.

To make the scam feel real, they may:

• Use the names of actual judges or sheriff’s deputies
• Send text messages with fake but official-looking paperwork.

Remember: The Hillsborough Clerk of Court & Comptroller and local law enforcement will NEVER call, text, or email you to demand payment for missing a court date. If you receive a suspicious message, contact your local law enforcement agency. Please share this warning. We want to make sure no one gets tricked!
