How We Serve You

The Clerk’s Office is rapidly changing to meet the demands of the digital citizen and remains committed to protecting and preserving the public trust. My dedicated employees are here to serve you, from cradle to grave.
Adoptions, marriages, divorces, criminal and civil records, deeds and foreclosures, passport applications and alimony payments -we handle all of those things and more.
We safeguard records dating back nearly 200 years and digital files from today. Our Records Center houses a half-billion pages of paper files. We are converting millions of pages to electronic files. Our website offers easy access to recent court records.

A technological revolution is transforming our office, including millions of court records filed electronically in the past few years. Through it all, we remain committed to integrity, transparency and accountability.
Financial watch

As Comptroller my office serves as an independent watchdog over Hillsborough County finances. We conduct annual audits and safeguard hundreds of millions of dollars in county funds. We handle the county’s payroll and pay the bills. We keep track of thousands of pieces of county-owned equipment. We even deliver the mail to over 250 locations at all county offices. Our clerks keep the minutes of every County Commission meeting and serve as the clerk for the Value Adjustment Board.
Supporting our courts

We are a pivotal part of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit. Our clerks protect court records, swear in witnesses and record evidence at trials. They collect court-ordered fines, fees and costs, a portion of which support our operations and that of other clerks around the state. You may hear from my office about jury duty. We offer free wi-fi, cable TV, charging stations for your mobile devices and work spaces in the Jury Auditorium at the Edgecomb Courthouse. A cafeteria is steps away.  We hope you enjoy the experience. Your service supports one of the foundations of our democracy.
Preserving life’s records

We maintain alimony and child support records, issue marriage licenses, accept passport applications, and auction real property for non-payment of taxes or mortgage foreclosure. We even perform marriage ceremonies!

The Clerk’s Office provides so many services it’s difficult to catalogue them all. I hope you find what you need, whether online, by phone or over the counter. We are constantly seeking to improve, so please let me know how we're doing

Pat Frank, Clerk & Comptroller
