The Traffic Department maintains all records pertaining to traffic citations issued to persons in Hillsborough County and all parking tickets issued by law enforcement agencies outside the Tampa city limits in Hillsborough County.

The Traffic Department collects payments and sets court dates on all traffic citations and county parking tickets.

If you are charged with a criminal traffic violation (DUI, driving with a suspended license, driving without a valid drivers license, etc.), you must contact the Traffic Department and set a court date within ten days of your offense in person or by U.S. mail.

If you are charged with a civil infraction (careless driving, speeding, etc.) you must do one of the following options within 30 days from your offense:

  • Set a court date by written request, e-mail or in person; PLEASE NOTE:  If you are requesting a court date after the initial 30 days, late and suspension fees must be paid prior to a court date being scheduled.  Effective January 1, 2013, we will no longer be able to schedule civil infractions for court after 180 days from the date upon which the violation occurred per Florida Statute 318.15.  Please see Florida Statute 318.15 for exact provisions.
  • Pay the fine
  • Elect to attend driving school to avoid points from being assessed, when applicable.  (Payment must be made at time of school election)
