The Traffic Department maintains all records pertaining to traffic citations issued to persons in Hillsborough County and all parking tickets issued by law enforcement agencies outside the Tampa city limits in Hillsborough County.

The Traffic Department collects payments and sets court dates on all traffic citations and county parking tickets.

If you are charged with a criminal traffic violation (DUI, driving with a suspended license, driving without a valid drivers license, etc.), the Clerk's Office will notify you via U.S. mail of your arraignment date. If you bonded out of jail, your bondsman will be notified as well. All notices will be sent to the address listed on the citation. It is the defendant’s responsibility to keep the Clerk’s Office informed of his/her correct mailing address. If your mailing address changes, you must submit your new address in writing to: Clerk of the Circuit Court Traffic Department P.O. Box 3360 Tampa, FL 33601 or in person at one of the Traffic locations. Please ensure your name and citation number(s) are included in the address change when submitted to the clerk. NOTE: Failure to appear at your appointed court session could result in a warrant for your arrest. If previously arrested for the citation, you may also forfeit any bond you have posted, thus losing money or collateral.

If you are charged with a civil infraction (careless driving, speeding, etc.) you must do one of the following options within 30 days from your offense:

  • Set a court date by written request, e-mail or in person; PLEASE NOTE:  If you are requesting a court date after the initial 30 days, late and suspension fees must be paid prior to a court date being scheduled.  Effective January 1, 2013, we will no longer be able to schedule civil infractions for court after 180 days from the date upon which the violation occurred per Florida Statute 318.15.  Please see Florida Statute 318.15 for exact provisions.
  • Pay the fine
  • Elect to attend driving school to avoid points from being assessed, when applicable.  (Payment must be made at time of school election)
